he Assistant Director of Family Engagement and Education (AD) reports directly to the Senior Director, Education. The AD leads the family engagement efforts in collaboration with the Director, Early Childhood Education at The Commons, and Site Director, Maycroft. The AD works to establish and strengthen parent partnerships and education within the Education program and to supervise and coordinate the Home Visiting and Parenting Journey Programs. The AD supervises the Social Worker and Family Support Workers and works to ensure that all aspects of the Parents as Teachers (PAT) program and Parenting Journey program are implemented with fidelity.
Roles and Responsibilities
Parents as Teachers (PAT) Supervisor:
- Coordinate and monitor the delivery of services in accordance with PAT essential requirements, PAT Quality Standards, and affiliate policies and procedures.
- Recruit and enroll families for the PAT home visiting program.
- Manage a caseload of two to five families from Early Childhood program (if necessary).
- Supervise Family Support Workers by
- Providing a total of 4 hours of individual reflective supervision monthly
- Conducting weekly check-ins
- Conducting four (4) hours of group supervision for family support workers
- Conducting two (2) hours of staff meetings monthly, that cover administrative issues and provide opportunities for review of implementation data, case discussion, and peer support
- Observing home visitor every 6 months and then annually providing verbal and written feedback.
- Observe at least 1 group connection quarterly and provide feedback for home visitors.
- Complete annual performance evaluation and mid-year review of each Family Support Worker, including written professional developmental goals.
- Engage in quality assurance of program using PAT quality assurance tools.
- Monitor service documentation, data collection and reporting (including annual submission of the Affiliate Performance Report) for Parents as Teachers standards and Efforts to Outcome system.
Family Engagement and Education:
- Lead parent and family engagement efforts as a part of the Education leadership team.
- Manage events and major projects by developing timelines and identifying necessary resources.
- Collaborate with Education leadership to coordinate and plan family engagement programming.
- Manage family education series by collaborating with Director, Early Childhood Education, and Site Director, Maycroft to identify topic areas and identify experts to share information with parents/families in the form of interactive workshops.
- Facilitate and coordinate quarterly Parenting Journey Groups for parent population in Education program.
- Conduct staff training on parent/family engagement strategies for Education staff.
- Provide support to teachers in designing and implementing parent/family education trainings that are classroom specific.
- Coordinate potential partnerships and external relationships for parent and family engagement.
- Establish and maintain rapport with parents and families via tabling, meetings, and other parent engagement opportunities.
- Collaborate with and assist teachers to develop and implement new strategies to engage parents/families, find out where they need support in helping their children succeed in school.
- Work with Education leadership on ways to make program offerings more appealing to parents.
- Partner with Assistant Director, Data and Evaluation to collect more in-depth information from parents and families about services that would be beneficial to them (surveys, interviews, etc.)
- Identify and establish connections to resources for parents in Wards 1 and 8
Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Social Work or related field
- 3-4 years of professional experience working to support families
- Experience managing programs aimed at improving outcomes for families
- Experience with establishing supportive relationships with children and families from diverse backgrounds
- Prior experience supervising others in social service work environments
- Utilizing data management system to collect parent and student information
Desired Skills and Experience:
- Experienced Social Services and Early Childhood Head Start Education Professionals
- Parents As Teachers experience strongly preferred
