Food Inventory Associate

2018 is a big year for Martha’s Table! We’re moving to our headquarters and opening two new locations. **Hours: 9am -5:30 pm and/or 10-6:30 Monday-Friday and weekends/holidays as needed. This position is considered "essential staff," and you will join a team supporting MT on holidays and in poor weather.

The Food Inventory Associate will be responsible for:

  • Managing the Lobby Market, including keeping it stocked and well-maintained, supporting volunteers and supporting with food ordering
  • Reading and responding to MT Donations emails and tracks in-kind food donations, receives donations
  • Assisting with ordering food (for Lobby Market, Martha’s Markets, Community Markets) and managing/tracking food inventory monthly with online computer system and by organizing and moving food in garage
  • Packing monthly grocery bags for partner organizations, delivering them and supporting other MT markets
  • Ordering food for Lobby Market & McKenna's Wagon via CAFB website and handling pick-ups at CAFB
  • Serving as the POC for the Lobby Market (LM) at Martha’s Table:
  • Welcomes and orientates all volunteers
  • Confirms LM volunteers via email (in coordination with the Volunteer Engagement Team) (likely only in Fall, 2018)
  • Ensures that the LM is set up and staged accordingly each morning before the market open; closes it down at the end of each day and fully stocks it on Friday in prep for the weekend
  • Conducts consistent spot inspections of the market during the day to make sure product is not missing
  • Staffs Lobby Market when volunteer(s) don’t show up or when additional help is needed
  • Supports at front desk, signing in Lobby Market shoppers during busy times
  • Troubleshoots any issues or concerns from volunteers or MT staff
  • Leads Holiday Giving in-kind food program, including developing compelling marketing materials materials to encourage food donations to MT, managing inventory of what we receive and what we need and developing system to track this, managing holiday giving inventory & organizational system etc)
  • Supporting with McKenna's Wagon prep
  • Drives for McKenna's Wagon up to several nights a week (as part of a normal 40-hour work week)
  • Responsible for other duties as assigned
  • Must have a driver's license and be able to drive with a clean driving record/3+ years of driving
  • This position will ultimately move from 14th St to the Maycroft (15th & Columbia, NW) in Fall, 2018 and report to the Volunteer & Community Support team at Martha's Table


  • Associate’s Degree or Bachelor’s Degree Preferred


  • At least two years of solid program management experience
  • Retail experience, especially grocery, preferred
  • Supervisory experience or experience working with volunteers, preferred
  • Experience with logistics and/or food distribution preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal, decision-making and organizations skills
  • Positive, dynamic and proactive approach to work
  • Strong work ethic
  • Excellent problem solving skills and the ability to think broadly and creatively
  • Able to relate and communicate in a variety of settings with multiple constituent groups
  • Computer experience (MS Word, Excel, Gmail, etc.)
  • Willingness to learn and commitment to social change


  • Must have a valid U.S. driver’s license and good driving record
